our story
The day we met - 20th December 2008. The O2 Arena, London
The ‘yes’ day - 27th March 2021 - Al Madam Desert, UAE
The best day - 3rd October 2024 - The Manor House, Castle Combe
Growing up on opposite sides of London, Ness the east side and Adam the west, it’s fitting that our paths crossed in the middle, at the O2 Arena in London on 20th December 2008, seeing one of our favourite bands, Stereophonics.
Although it sounds like something from a movie, out of 20,000 people there that evening, fate put our seats next to each other.
Adam is happy to admit that Ness actually made the first move! Asking him to hold up the corner of an oversized Welsh flag. From there the conversation flowed and by the end of the night we had exchanged numbers.
With Ness battling some home issues, we kept our contact on the down low, using college emails to communicate for close to three years, before finally getting the opportunity to meet again in September 2011. We immediately hit it off and made sure to meet up every weekend after that, which was for close to a year.
On 25th June 2012, Ness had decided home life wasn’t for her and made the challenging decision to move away from all she’d known to start a new life, trusting that living with Adam was the right move. Our relationship flourished, proving Ness had made the right choice.
After six years living together in Buckinghamshire, we decided that the world is a big place and there are other corners of it we’d like to discover, so on 29th October 2018 we took a risk, packed our bags and set off to The UAE for a new adventure, having never been to the Middle East before.
We’ve now been living in Dubai for nearly six years and we’re in agreement it was the best decision we ever made. We’ve made memories that will last a lifetime and have many more to make together.
After a challenging first few years adjusting to life in a different country, we had finally settled and Adam proposed to Ness on 27th March 2021, on the highest dune in the Al Madam desert. After a long pause whilst clearing the tears of joy (and blood from biting through her lip in surprise…) Ness said yes.
After a few years of planning, we can’t wait to officially be Mr & Mrs Lewis on 3rd October 2024 and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate with our friends and family from all over the world. So please enjoy our day and have a drink (or more) on us!
THE GIRLS
Nicole - Maid of Honour
Nicole & Ness met back in 2013 when they both worked at House of Fraser in Reading, and aside from Adam, Nicole is Ness’ longest friendship. While their working relationship didn’t last very long, their friendship has stood the test of time.
Despite the distance, Nicole has been part of every step of wedding planning and she visited Dubai to be with Ness when she bought her wedding dress in September 2023. She’s a true Swiftie at heart, and is guaranteed to be on the dancefloor all night.
Becky - Bridesmaid
Becky joined the company where Ness worked, the day after Adam & Ness got engaged in 2021, their Friday ritual was to share a glass or 2 of wine while debriefing the weeks’ antics. Their friendship took off immediately and despite them both leaving the company, they remained friends and ended up working together again at a nursery 2 years later.
They both love the TV show Friends, Aperol Spritz and Ness was very excited to learn that Becky has a sausage dog called Mylo, who has visited for a few staycations while Becky and her family travel.
Emma - Bridesmaid
Emma became a client at the company Ness worked for in 2021, despite not initially meeting, they spoke over the phone and via email every day to coordinate a large relocation project for Emma’s boss. At the end of the project, Emma & Ness agreed to meet, and their working relationship quickly turned into a friendship. Emma left Dubai in December 2022 but their strong friendship continues despite the distance. They both share a love of Harry Potter and Friends.
THE GUYS
Ben - Best man
Ben & Adam met when they were 11, in secondary school. Ben’s musical talents inspired Adam to learn the Guitar, culminating in them playing in a band together, albeit badly by their own admission!
Ben and Adam have also competed in sports teams together and lost many nights playing darts in Ben’s garage. Whenever possible (which isn’t very often anymore unfortunately) they love to golf together, which Ben can tell you many an anecdote about if you ask him!
Dan - Groomsman
Older than Adam by nearly 5 years, Dan is Adam’s only brother. Spending the first 18 years of Adam’s life as a sworn enemy, ultimately Dan came through to be the best companion Adam could have. Dan introduced Adam to music of all decades, movies of all genres and also took Adam to his first ever Spurs game, making him the avid supporter he is today…no wonder Adam is so good at all of Dan’s custom made quizzes 🤓
Sohail - Groomsman
Bursting onto the scene in 2019, Sohail welcomed Adam with open arms when he took the plunge into a new role in Dubai. They hit their friendship off immediately, Sohail is always there for Adam as his Dubai based bestie, in good times and in bad. They have played in football teams together for a few years now, with the best part being enjoying the full analysis of the game in the third half.
